Here’s how I think you could make one:
Start with a rectangular wood box. Upholster with white fabric. Upholster two larger boards with black fabric. Firmly attach bottom and attach top with hinges.

Textured Furniture Update
Use modpodge and lace to dress up the fronts of drawers. When dry, paint over the whole piece with the same color. Paint the trim a contrasting color, like white in the pic. The result is a lovely texture! Subtle, but beautiful!

Store onions, shallots and garlic in a paper bag punched with holes, they’ll last much longer than the way you’re doing it now.
